Manufacturing and cutting of prisms by hand

Heating

1. Large glass rods are heated in an oven until they are soft enough to be pressed into prisms.
Press

2. The glass rod is inserted between the moulds in the manual press. When the press is opened again the glass has taken the shape of a raw prism.
Cooling

3. Still hot, the newly pressed prism is lifted of the press and put in sand to slowly cool of.

Cutting

4. The left over glass is cut from the cool prism.

The edges of the prisms are cut by hand as well as the facets of the prisms.

Quality control and final cut

5. After a quality control, the facets are polished into their definitive appearance.
Polishing

6. Finally, all of the prisms go through the final quality control where every facet is checked, first after cutting, and then again after polishing.
